Urban Decay Backtalk Palette and Hi-Fi Shine Review

I am so excited about writing this review - I have been lusting after this palette for MONTHS and it's finally been released in the UK! This palette is inspired by a Vice lipstick shade of the same name and it features 8 eyeshadows, 2 blushers and 2 highlighters. The whole palette is full of really beautiful mauve/pink shades, which was initially what drew me to it as I really love those tones! It retails for £39.99 which is fairly standard for an Urban Decay palette. I also purchased one of their new Hi-Fi Shine lipglosses in the shade "Backtalk" - these glosses are £15 each, so again fairly standard pricing for lip products from this brand.
In this palette, you get 8 different shades on the eyeshadow side - 3 mattes and 5 satin/shimmer shades:

  • "3 Sheets" - a soft pale pink matte which is perfect for setting primer.
  • "Bare" - a champagne shimmer.
  • "Curve" - a mauve/pink shimmer.
  • "Backtalk" - a matte pink.
  • "Shade" - my absolute favourite shade in the whole palette: a purple/pink shimmer.
  • "Attitude" - a coppery pink shimmer.
  • "WTF" - a matte light brown shade, this has been great as a transition colour.
  • "180" - a dark shimmery brown.
All of the colours are really buttery, which makes them so easy to blend. I don't think there's a shade I haven't used in here and although they're all really similar shades, I think there are quite a few looks you can create with this palette, whether it's more of a pink look or maybe a neutral brown eye.

On the other side of the palette, you have 2 blusher shades and 2 highlighter shades:

  • "Cheap Shot" - a shimmery purple/pink blusher shade.
  • "Double Take" - a reddish pink shade with a slight shimmer to it.
  • "Low Key" - a peachy pink highlighter. This is fantastic if you want a more subtle everyday glow rather than a blinding highlight.
  • "Party Foul" - a champagne shimmer highlighter. This one is much brighter than "Low Key" so it's perfect for more of an evening look or if you want your cheekbones to be seen from space 😉
Again, there's not a shade in here that I haven't used at least once. All of them are really pigmented but also easy to work with. My only criticism would be that it would have been nice if "Cheap Shot" was a bit less shimmery, just because I'm not really a fan of shimmery blushes, especially if I'm then going to put a highlighter on top!

I don't really wear lipglosses a lot, but if I do, I want them really pigmented and able to stay on my lips for a decent amount of time. The new Hi-Fi Shine lipgloss does all of that! I could very easily have picked up multiple shades from this range, but I thought that the shade "Backtalk" would be a perfect accompaniment to the palette. This one is a pinky brown shade - it's really pigmented and super glossy. It has a slight peppermint smell to it, which makes me think there's some kind of plumping agent in there too, although it doesn't burn your lips in the way a lot of plumping glosses do! I definitely think I will purchase more shades from this collection as I'm so impressed with this one!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...
