As you're probably aware, I am quite happy to spend a fair amount of money when it comes to makeup, especially anything that's going on my face - I find with most products you get what you pay for and because my skin is quite sensitive, cheaper products tend to irritate it and do more harm than good. That being said, there are quite a few cheaper brands out there that produce some amazing products that easily give higher-end brands a run for their money. I thought it might be fun to do a series on this blog comparing high-end makeup with their drugstore equivalents. Not everyone can afford to go out and splurge a lot of money on makeup, and after a year of living as a student, I've found that drugstore products have very quickly become my new best friend! I'm not sure how regularly I'll be able to do this series, but whenever I try out a new dupe I'll be sure to write a post!

Have you ever found a product so good it puts you off ever trying another one again, because you know in your heart that you'll never find one as good? Well that's how I feel about this primer! I've tried many different primers over the years but none of them have even come close to this one.  This is one product that continuously tops make-up charts. It's a cult favourite, especially for those who have to tackle oily skin. I have more of a combination skin-type, but I've found it works just as well on the non-oily parts of my face as it does in my T-zone; it mattifies the oilier parts of my face, such as my forehead but also leaves my cheeks which tend to be drier feeling smooth without sucking any moisture out of them. It has a smooth, non-greasy formula that is really easy to blend into the skin - I've often found with primers that have a thicker consistency that they either break up underneath the foundation after a while or feel so heavy that you end up...

Alas, my love of the Bourjois Paris Happy Light Matte Serum Primer was short-lived. It lasted less than a month, and at £10.99 a bottle I didn't think that was particularly worth the money, especially given how little product I needed. Luckily for me, I travelled to Ireland this weekend and it would have been rude not to treat myself in duty-free, so I thought I'd give the Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion a try. I've had a sample of some of their eyeshadow primers and was super impressed with those so fingers crossed this one will live up to expectations! It's normally priced at £19.50 for a 28ml tube (mine was obviously cheaper in duty-free) and I was pleasantly surprised at how big the tubes are!

So the time has come to replace my primer after it ran out. I've been using the Barry M Flawless Primer for quite sometime and, although it's good quality and really good value for money, I've been finding that it does leave my skin looking quite shiny underneath my make up, so I thought it might be time for a change. I thought a matte primer might do the trick, and the reviews for this one on the Boots website seemed pretty good so I thought I'd give this one a try! It's a little bit more expensive than the Barry M one at £10.99 but there seems to be a lot more product in there, which is good! (That's the only thing I didn't like about the other primer; it did run out very quickly)
