Confessions Of A Perfectionist // Honesty Time

So I haven't really been posting much lately, and that's pretty much down to just not having the time with all my work for drama school, and also not really having the spare cash to go out and buy new make up/hair products to review very regularly #studentproblems However I wanted to write this post because recently I have been really struggling. I think it's fair to say I'm a perfectionist and I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve things to the best of my abilities. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, I think it's really important to push and challenge yourself and to strive to better yourself, especially with things you're passionate about. However, it does manifest itself in me getting very stressed about things when they're not going according to plan. I like to be in control of all aspects of my life (lol at me trying to make a career out of being an actor) and I find it quite hard to deal with things when they're not ...

Drama School Auditions: Top Tips For Not Making A Tit Of Yourself

Drama school auditions can be nerve-wracking to say the least. I'm now going into my fifth year of auditioning for BA Acting courses and, let me tell you, it doesn't get any less scary. Although I'm no expert on them (for obvious reasons), after a few attempts you do tend to pick up on the things that are glaringly, painfully, obviously wrong and the things that might actually nudge you that little bit closer to a place at a drama school. These tips are based on my own experiences with auditions and some of the basics that I learnt from doing an acting foundation course at Birmingham School of Acting (*shameless self-promo alert* I've written a post about my time on the course if you want some more info). So if this is your first year of auditions, or you're a veteran of the audition circuit and can't quite figure out where you're going wrong, read on!

Acting Foundation Courses: What Are They and Are They Worth It?

I have recently completed an acting foundation course at Birmingham School of Acting and I can honestly say going there was one of the best decisions of not only my acting journey, but also my life! I would definitely advise anyone hoping to train at a drama school to at least consider them if they aren't successful in their first year of applying. They can be expensive, so it's important to know exactly what you're getting for your money, as the vast majority of them do seem to be self-funded (although at BSA there was a bursary available to students who needed some financial help) and it is a huge commitment.  So, if you are someone who's considering a foundation course, or just you just want a bit more information on what other options there might be for your gap-yah dahling, read on!
