Birchbox Goodies // December 2017

Well here we are, my last blog post of 2017! This year has been pretty full-on to be honest; I finally got into drama school, I performed in some really great shows, I went on my first girl's holiday with my best friend, I've met some truly awesome people and of course, bought loads of make up and hair products! I probably won't get chance to write another post between now and the new year because I'm doing quite a few hours at work and I've also got loads of research to do ready for my next project at drama school (come at me Chekhov!), so I thought I'd finish off with my last Birchbox of the year - I've really enjoyed reviewing these and they've been a really fantastic way of trying new products! There's been a few hits and misses but I have definitely discovered a couple of new brands that have been fantastic.

This month, Birchbox has teamed up with British fashion designer Matthew Williamson to deliver a truly luxury box of goodies! The design on this box is absolutely beautiful and I love that all of the products match! In this box I received a full-size LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick, a full-size foaming shower gel from Rituals, an Instant Depuffing eye mask from FaceD, a full-size ecoTOOLS Contour Perfecting applicator and a full-size Angled Blender Brush from Spectrum Collections! Read on to see what I thought...

LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick in "Colour Me Confident"

Anyone who knows me will be able to tell you that I'm a sucker for a red lipstick, especially really deep berry tones, so you can imagine how excited I was for this one! However, I wasn't hugely impressed by this lipstick - it's a beautiful colour but because it's more like a pencil rather than a lipstick formula, it made it really hard to get an even line around my lips. The actual formula was really nice and quite easy to apply, but I think I'd rather spend my money on a product that I don't have to use a liner with first.

Rituals The Ritual of Ayurveda Foaming Shower Gel

Again, I wasn't particularly blown away by this product; I liked the foam and I found it quite moisturising but to be honest it didn't do anything that my regular shower gels wouldn't, nor did it smell as nice! I was expecting a really nice floral or even a spicy musk scent but it just smells like normal hand soap to be honest which is a bit boring!

FaceD Instant Depuffing Eye Mask

Well I needed this! I have been so tired over the past few weeks and I feel like I just can't get rid of the dark circles and puffiness under my eyes, but this little mask really helped! I think it's one of those products that you'd see a real difference with if you kept using it over the course of a few weeks but although I couldn't really see much difference, the skin under my eyes felt really refreshed and smooth after using this product!

ecoTOOLS Contour Perfecting Applicator

So I haven't actually been able to use this product yet; it's meant to be for blending out cream contour products and as you probably know from my previous blog posts, I gave up with those ages ago and now just stick to powder. I don't even use liquid concealer anymore so I couldn't use it for that and it's too small to blend out my foundation to be honest! I have used this brand before though and I think they have really good, affordable products so I would definitely recommend them, even if I can't use this particular one!

Spectrum Collections Angled Blender Brush

Honestly every time Birchbox put a Spectrum brush in their box I get so excited! I LOVE this brand - they're super affordable, amazing quality and they're also cruelty free and vegan! Their brushes are super soft as well and I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a brush. This one was really good for doing crease colours and I also found that it was quite handy for bringing the eyeshadow out into more of a cat-eye look!

So that's it from me until 2018! One of my New Year's resolutions is to start posting more content on here so hopefully I'll be able to get at least 2 or 3 posts done in a month, but obviously I have to put my school work first! Thank you to everyone who has been reading and sharing my posts, don't forget to give me a follow on Instagram (@bobbis.bubble) and Twitter (@bobbisbubble) as I post on there quite a lot! Hope you all have a lovely time over the festive season and I shall see you next year 💖💖💖

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...
