Birchbox Goodies // February 2019

Well after January being the longest month EVER, February is here and has completely flown by in my opinion! I haven't had a lot of chance to sit down and write this review, hence why it's coming 2 days before the end of the month, but better late than never I guess! This month, Birchbox have teamed up with Not on the High Street to bring us a box filled with the perfect products for a bit of self-love. I absolutely love the floral design this month as well, it's really helping get me in the mood for spring! In this box, I received a LOC liquid eyeshadow, an Anatomicals shower gel, the Coco & Eve hair mask (I've been dying to try this), a Luxie blending brush and a gorgeous lipstick from NABLA Cosmetics!

LOC Liquid Shimmer Eyeshadow in "Moonlight"

RRP £8
I've had a few products from LOC in previous Birchboxes and I'm always pretty impressed by them and also quite surprised at how affordable they are, especially given the quality. I've never actually used a liquid eyeshadow before, but I've seen them all over Instagram at the moment as so many companies like Revolution, Huda Beauty and Stila have launched products like this. It took a little bit of time to get it to work for me, but I think the colour pay-off is beautiful, as you can see from the photo below, it was easy to blend out and lasted really well! I think if LOC decided to bring out more colours then these would be a fantastic dupe for the Stila Magnificent Metals liquid eyeshadow, especially as the Stila ones are about three times the price!

Anatomicals Shower Gel

RRP £4
This pretty much does what it says on the bottle - it smells nice, it gets you clean. Job done. That's all I can say about it to be honest, I don't mind the smell of it but I definitely prefer a stronger smell and a thicker consistency for my shower gels, but I think you'd really like it if you've got very sensitive skin!

Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque

RRP £9
As I said before, I have been DYING to try this masque for absolutely ages! This has been all over my social media for months - this one is the smaller version, but they also have a 212ml tub for £34.90. And yeah, that is really expensive for a hair mask, but honestly, I don't think I've ever used one as good as this! I get really dry hair and I find most masks don't do a lot to repair the damage, but this one left my hair feeling so soft and shiny! I really would recommend paying a little bit extra for something that works so well - after using this my hair felt like I'd just come out of the hairdressers!

Luxie 205 Tapered Blending Brush

RRP £11
Another product that pretty much does exactly what it says it does - I thought this worked really well blending out my eyeshadow. I also like the fact it's quite big and fluffy, as that made it really good for crease/transition colours!

NABLA Cosmetics Diva Crime Lipstick in "Beverly"

RRP £11.90
You can never really go wrong with red lipstick in my opinion! I've never heard of this brand before, but I'm really impressed with this product! It's really easy to apply, I didn't find it particularly drying like I do with most matte bullet lipsticks and the colour is absolutely gorgeous! I probably need to find a lip-liner to go with it though, as I did notice a little bit of bleeding and it's quite hard to get an even line with it, but I find that happens with most bullet lipsticks anyway.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...
