Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette Review

Contouring has always terrified me. I tried it once a few years ago with a very cheap bronzer and a very big fan brush and just ended up looking like I'd had a dodgy spray tan (I've never trusted a bronzer since). Since then, I've avoided contouring like the plague and have spent ages lusting after those chiseled cheekbones that you plastered all over make up gurus' social media pages.

UNTIL NOW!

Ok, that was probably very dramatic but I am so excited over this contour kit and the fact I now have the ability to at least do the basics when it comes to contouring! I really like Sleek products, they're super affordable and a lot of their stuff easily contends with some of the more expensive brands out there. I happened to buy their Face Contour Kit for a friend's Christmas present a couple of years ago and she really loves it, especially the highlight shade. They also do a cream contour kit, but being a virgin when it comes to this, I figured it was best to start with the powder version and work my way up. I also have quite a round face, so I was a bit worried the cream would be too harsh a look and I'm yet to find a palette where the darker shades don't look orange against my skin. So I went with this particular palette, which includes a contour shade, a highlight and a blush for £9.99!

First Impressions

Contour shade

So this was maybe a little bit darker than I was expecting it to be, especially given that I picked up the fair palette. The consistency does seem quite buttery though, so I think it will blend out really easily. The other good thing is that there are no orange undertones in there, which I find quite a lot of contouring shades and bronzers seem to have which just make me look like a tangerine!

Highlight

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I seriously wish I could post videos on here because the GLOW on this highlight when it catches the light is just phenomenal. Like I might cry it looks so pretty. It's also quite a subtle shade too, which is nice for an everyday kind of look. Insert all the heart-eye emojis here.

Blush

Again, this is such a beautiful colour and that shimmer is just to die for! I maybe would have preferred a matte blush given that the highlight in this palette is so shimmery, but it's so beautiful I'm sure I will get the use out of this one too.

How It Looked

So as you can see, that highlight is just beautiful. I've gone with quite a subtle look this time around - I only used a small amount of the contour shade and really buffed it out, but you can still see a slight bit of definition on my cheeks. I think if I was going out I'd use a little bit more product but for an everyday look and considering I've only just started doing this I'm quite happy with it. I used the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush for the contour - this is a super fluffy angled brush. It might also be a good idea to keep a kabuki brush handy if you want a more subtle look - I used my Body Shop one just to buff out the colour so it wasn't too harsh. For the highlight I used an Eco Tools Airbrush Concealer brush - obviously it's meant for concealing but because it's really fluffy it also works really well on powder cosmetics and I don't own a fan brush at the moment. Again, the blush was really pigmented to begin with but I buffed it out with the kabuki and actually the shimmer in there along with the highlight looks really pretty! I would 100% recommend this palette if you're a beginner with contouring or if you just wanted a more subtle look for everyday wear!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...
