Birchbox Goodies // May 2018

I've been a bit quiet on the blog and on Instagram for the last couple of weeks - my workload at uni has increased massively so I've found it hard to keep on top of posts. I also had a little wobble at the beginning of last week which I've struggled to move on from, so I wanted to give myself a bit of time before I launched myself back into posts. I may write something about it, but I'm not sure just yet.

But I'm back and I thought it would be good to finally share my thoughts on this month's Birchbox as it's very nearly the end of the month! This box has been all about those summer vibes, and I am 100% feeling that given the gorgeous weather we've been having recently! In this box, I received the Skinny Liquid Eyeliner from Eyeko, a charcoal deodorant balm from Native Unearthed, a Caudalie make-up removing oil, a Greenfrog Botanic body wash and a Doucce lip stain.

 Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

I was really excited to try this one - I told my friend Hayley I'd received it and she told me it was her favourite eyeliner. I have to say, I wasn't massively impressed by it. I thought it was really pigmented and the tip is thin enough to be really precise, but throughout the day I noticed it flaking off and I think the nib is quite hard so it's quite hard to actually draw the line on. I definitely prefer the Stay All Day eyeliner from Stila, but Hayley was very happy when I gave this to her, so silver linings and all that.

Native Unearthed Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant Balm

I was really intrigued by this product and was hoping I'd enjoy using it. Lately, I've been really trying to be conscious of eco-friendly products, which this definitely is. I have physical lessons pretty much everyday at drama school, so I definitely put this to the test. I don't think it held out too badly to be fair, although towards the end of the week I did feel like I was getting a bit smelly, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm used to a stronger-smelling deodorant. I think I will keep using this, but maybe on days when I'm not getting too physical. It's really easy to apply and I didn't notice any irritation from it - I have quite sensitive underarms but even after shaving I didn't get a rash from it.

Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil

I've heard really good things about this brand, so I was quite excited to try this oil. I used it a couple of times and I found it worked best for me if I put a little product on a cotton pad and used that. My skin felt really smooth and it did a good job of removing my make-up. I don't really feel that it did anything my current products don't already, so I don't think I'll be purchasing a full size of this, but I'm definitely open to trying other products from this brand.

Greenfrog Botanic Botanical Bodywash

I think this has been my favourite product from this box. Again, it's a very eco-friendly, organic and cruelty-free product, which is great! I was especially drawn to it as it says that this product is great for sensitive skin and even eczema. I can get eczema flare-ups when I'm stressed and it's been quite bad recently, so for me this product was perfect. It didn't cause any further irritation and I actually noticed my skin improving while I was using it. It also helped with some of the dry skin I often get on my arms, so this is definitely one I will be purchasing!

Doucce Luscious Lip Stain in "Steaming Red"

So Birchbox actually let us choose which colour we received for this lip stain - it was a choice between this one and their shade "Amber Rose". I couldn't decide between the two so I selected for them to surprise me. I really loved the formula of this: it's really lightweight but gives a really lovely coverage. I did end up giving this to Hayley as well, but only because the shade is very similar to a lot of my other lipsticks and I didn't think I'd get the use out of it.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...
