Birchbox Goodies // March 2018

I am all for a brand that encourages people to take some time out from their hectic lives and just give themselves a bit of me-time. This month, Birchbox are focusing on mindfulness and have sent out a box full of goodies to help make self-care even more luxurious and easy. We also received a sample size of Benefit's new BADgal BANG! mascara this month, which I was so excited to try! In this month's box, I got a BLAQ Peel Off Mask, a Glow Boost Essence from Lumene, a dry shampoo paste from R + Co and a Baïja body scrub.

BLAQ Peel Off Mask

You've probably seen these charcoal peel masks online for quite a while now and there are loads of videos going around with people showing you all the gross stuff that these masks are supposed to remove. Because I'm an absolute weirdo, I find stuff like this really satisfying to watch, so I was quite excited to try it for myself. You can imagine my disappointment then, when I peeled mine off the only thing actually stuck to the mask was a couple of hairs. To be fair, it did leave my skin feeling quite smooth, but I'm not really sure if this is a product I need as I don't really get clogged pores very much.

Benefit BADgal BANG! Mascara

As I said before, this was something I was really excited about in this month's box, but unfortunately, it's yet another mascara from Benefit that I just think is over-hyped and really not worth the money. I am a massive Benefit fan but I just don't think any of their mascaras are any good - the only one I've ever actually liked is the They'reReal! tinted lash primer. The formula for the BADgal BANG! has been reworked from their old one and it's really wet so it takes quite a while to dry. It's also an absolute pain to remove. I did, however, like the length that it gave my lashes, but I don't think this is something I'll be purchasing.

Lumene Valo [Light] Glow Boost Essence

I think this is the product I've been most impressed by this month - I don't think a day has gone by where I haven't used it and I'm dreading the day my sample runs out because it is pretty expensive! I've never tried an oil serum before, but even if I don't buy from this particular brand again, it's definitely convinced me that I need it in my beauty routine. This one has left my face feeling so soft and looking really dewy and glowy: it's been great for prepping my skin before I apply makeup or for when my skin needs an extra moisture boost.

R + Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste

I was quite intrigued by this product when I first saw it as I've never used a dry shampoo paste before. I found it was really hard to get out of the tub as it's quite thick, so I could only really use a small amount at a time, but it actually came in really handy for touching up my roots when I'd already put my hair into style. Unlike with a normal spray, you don't get any white patches and it's easier to work into the hair.

Baïja Gommage Festin Royal Body Scrub

I cannot begin to tell you how much of a godsend this has been for me! I have recently been suffering from some patches of eczema and some of the advice I've been given is to try and exfoliate a bit more to get rid of any dead skin. This has been brilliant because it's nourishing enough to not cause any more flare-ups but it also does a great job of leaving my skin lovely and smooth! It also smells absolutely divine!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...
