Birchbox Goodies // January 2018

Here we are, the first Birchbox of the year! For this month's box, they've teamed up with British stationary brand Ohh Deer to bring a fabulous flamingo design, along with a brilliant motto of "stand tall and be fabulous", which I think is great for this time of year. In this box, I received a full-size Lord & Berry blusher crayon, a waterproof eyeliner from Marcelle, a Nuxe shower oil, a Parlor sea salt spray and the Amazing Makeup Remover from Afterspa!

Lord & Berry Blusher Crayon in "Peach"

I was a little bit dubious of this product to begin with - I tend to stick to powder blushes as the tints/crayon products I've used before have been really difficult to work with and usually just leave me with patchiness on my cheeks. However, this one was really easy to blend out because it was so creamy. I went for the peach shade as I think that colour really suits my skin-tone. It was also really easy to build up the colour which is really nice!

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in "Charcoal"

I was really unimpressed by this product to be honest - I don't usually wear a pencil liner unless I've put some eyeshadow on and I'll pop it in my waterline. I don't know whether it was because I'd put it in my waterline, but it had hardly any pigmentation so I had to keep putting loads on until I actually got any colour.

Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil

Again, this product didn't exactly wow me. I liked the scent of it and it was really moisturising, however, I didn't see any of the glow it promises. It's got a bit of gold shimmer in it but it rinses away pretty much instantly, so it's not really something I'll be buying in future.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Salt Spray

I really liked this little spray - I've found with a couple of salt sprays I've used before that they left my hair feeling quite dry and I had a bit of a problem with them sticking my hair together which just makes it look greasy and unbrushed, but this one made my hair feel really soft and was quite easy to brush out afterwards as well!

Afterspa Amazing Makeup Remover

I'm actually blown away by how good this product is, and I think the concept of it is really interesting. All you need to do is wet it and use it the same way you would a makeup wipe and it removes all of your makeup, even mascara! I think this idea is really fantastic, especially as most cleansing wipes aren't biodegradable and it's becoming a bit of an environmental problem because they just build up in big clumps. By having just one cloth that removes makeup you're eliminating that waste. It lasts up to 1000 washes and it's only £5.50, so it's a very affordable alternative to wipes. I thought it did a really good job of removing my make up as well so I'm definitely going to continue using it and recommend it to people who are conscious about their impact on the environment!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...
