Birchbox Goodies // November 2017

COME ON, VOGUE! November is here and so is another Birchbox! This month, they've teamed up with Vogue for the magazine's centenary celebrations - Vogue has created a list of the 100 greatest beauty products of all time and this box includes 4 products from that list available in the Birchbox shop, plus a Birchbox brush cleaner! The products I got were a Benefit Hoola bronzer, a Percy & Reed Smooth, Sealed and Sensational hair oil, some Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream and a James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask. Read on to find out what I thought!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I'm actually already a big fan of this bronzer - Benefit is one of my favourite beauty brands and Hoola is a fantastic product! It's really great for people with fairer skin tones as it's not too orange, unlike a lot of other bronzers I've tried. It's also super blendable and soft, definitely a star product!

Percy & Reed Smooth, Sealed and Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil

I really liked this product - I've only used it a couple of times but I definitely noticed a difference in how my hair felt afterwards. I don't think it did much for the volume, however my hair is really thick so I get a fair amount of volume from that anyway, but it did leave my hair feeling lovely and soft without making it really greasy!

Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream

I was pretty happy to get a hand cream in this box, especially now the weather is getting colder and more windy as I get quite dry hands. This left my hands feeling really really soft and I actually think my nails are getting better as usually they're quite flakey as well!

James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Tan Face

So I haven't actually used this product, not because I thought badly of it but because I'm not using fake tan at the moment, so there's no point trying to make my face more tanned. However, I did swatch it on the back of my hand - I was quite surprised at the texture of it; it's almost got the consistency of a gel and although it felt nice enough on my hand, it did dry down very matte so I'm not sure if it's really a tanning product that I would use as I prefer things that are really moisturising.

Birchbox Brush Cleaner

There's nothing bad to say about this little tool! It's got a really handy hole to put your fingers into to hold it while you clean your brushes, and the little grooves make it easy to get rid of all the make up on your brush!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...
