Birchbox Goodies // July 2017

So I'm a little bit late with this month's review - I got the box right in the middle of a show week and then went up to Coventry so I've struggled to find the time to sit down and write about the products I received this month! This month's box is inspired by "Summer Daze" hence the gorgeous sunset and palm tree design - and this month every subscriber got an extra product! In this box I got a Benefit Cosmetics Cha Cha Tint, the Flash Cleanse Micellar Water from Balance Me, the Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery, an Anatomicals Softening Eucalyptus Foot Cream, a Whish Renewing Mud Mask and a sample of Lipsy London's Glam Perfume!

Benefit Cha Cha Tint

I was so excited to see another Benefit product in my box, until I saw it was a lip and cheek stain. I absolutely loath the things. I don't mind them on the lips, but only if they're not dry because it just looks awful and I just think they're rubbish for cheeks - they don't blend out properly so you just get patches of colour rather than a seamless flush like you would with a normal blush. I've yet to find a product that proves me wrong, and to be honest this wasn't any different. I did really like the colour of this though, so I have used it on my lips a couple of times.

Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water

I've never used a micellar water before so I was quite looking forward to trying this particular product. It left my skin feeling really refreshed, but I have to say I don't think it did a great job of removing my make up - I don't use particularly heavy make up in the summer so really it should have been easy enough to remove. It's also a shame you can't use this to remove eye make-up, so it meant adding an extra step to my skincare routine. However, I think I'd use this in the mornings when I want a bit of a boost for my skin and to make sure I have a clean base for when I put my make up on!

Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery

You know me, anything that claims it can battle frizz and I'm all over it! I think I've used a volumising mousse from Percy & Reed before but I don't remember being all that impressed by it, so I was interested in seeing how this product held up. It's quite handy how quickly it dries, meaning you don't have to worry about protecting your pillowcases. My hair definitely felt much softer and less dry after I'd washed it out but the frizz was still there unfortunately! It's definitely something I'd use for when my hair is a little bit dryer than usual but the hunt continues for something that really stops the frizz!

Anatomicals Softening Eucalyptus Foot Cream

This product is an absolute God-send for people like me who spend all day on their feet at work and as a result get really horrible dry heels! I forgot to take this with me when I went to Coventry and honestly I really felt the difference after not using it for three days! I'm definitely getting a full-size tube once this one runs out because my feet have never been so smooth!

Whish Renewing Mud Mask

I was a little bit skeptical of this mask, purely for the fact it advises you to patch test it first and only leave it on for two minutes, which is either not enough time for it to do any good or makes me question exactly what is in it! It's an exfoliating mask and although it did leave my skin feeling quite smooth after I'd used it, it's not really something I'd go back to since I already exfoliate with a cleanser once or twice a week.

Lipsy London Glam Fragrance

So this is quite a sweet floral fragrance, which is right up my street! It's quite light as well and not too strong so it's been perfect for an everyday perfume!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...
