Birchbox Goodies // April 2017

Another month, another Birchbox review! This time Birchbox has teamed up with clothing brand Boden to produce an exclusive print for this month's box! There was also an offer for subscribers to get their hands on a Boden accessory for a little bit extra. This box included three full-size products which is really exciting! I got the Manna Kadar High Definition Powder, a ModelCo EYE DEFINE Crayon Liner, a Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub, a Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and a Baïja Paris Crème Moana.

What's In My Box?

Manna Kadar Cosmetics High Definition Powder

I've been looking for a setting powder for quite a while now so I was really excited to try this product. Or at least, I would have been if I'd actually been able to get a decent amount out! This is supposedly a full-size sample but the pan is so tiny it makes it really hard to get any product on your brush! I get that you don't need to use a huge amount as it's meant to be a light dusting, but maybe this would have worked better as a loose powder, rather than a pressed compact! Also, for £27 you don't really get much for your money if I'm honest!

ModelCo EYE DEFINE Crayon Liner

I have to say, it's been a long time since I've used a pencil liner as I like to wing out my eyeliner and I find liquid ones are the best for that. I do sometimes use a pencil on my waterline, but I thought I'd have a little go at using the pencil on my lid. It actually turned out really nice; I went with more of a smokey look and smudged it on the outer-corners. It was really easy to blend out and gave quite a good colour pay-off too! At £11 it is a little bit pricey compared to other liners I've used that have worked just as well though!

Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub with Arctic Cotton

So I was pretty intrigued by the ingredients in this product; I've never heard of arctic cotton, or known of it being used in a beauty product before and I was quite interested to find an exfoliating scrub that is also moisturising. I was really impressed when I used this; my skin felt so smooth after and although I do use an exfoliator quite regularly I've never noticed it leaving my skin feeling quite so soft! This one is on the Birchbox site for £23.50 which is quite a lot more than I would usually pay for a face wash but after feeling how nice it made my skin feel I might have to splash out for a full-size one!

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Ok so this product pretty much does what it says one the label; it dries really really quickly! I am the absolute worst for leaving it until the last minute to paint my nails and I usually end up completely ruining them before I've even left the house because they're not fully dry, so this product is definitely something I need! In terms of making my nail varnish last, I haven't really noticed any difference so far, but it says on the description to add another coat after three days so hopefully that will work! It's £9 on the Birchbox site, which I honestly think is quite reasonable for the quality of this product!

Baïja Paris Crème Moana in Fleur de Tiarè

I am a self-confessed Body Shop body butter addict, so I don't really tend to try out other body lotions as I've found one that works really well for me already. I liked this one and it smells gorgeous but if I'm honest for £15 a tube it didn't really do anything for me that the Body Shop products haven't already!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick "Morning After" Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in "Morning After" *New favourite lipstick alert*  This lipstick is seriously giving me life right now! I bought it a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been constantly reaching for it. It's part of the Vice lipsticks collection from Urban Decay, which comes in 100 different shades and 6 different finishes (Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, Sheer Shimmer and Mega Matte) and they're priced at £15. This one is from the Sheer range, it's a light nude shade that's more on the pink side. What I really love about is how buildable it is in terms of colour; one coat and you just get that really subtle, pink sheen to your lips or you can build it up into a super-glossy pink look! The only bad thing I can say about it is that they haven't made this shade in the matte finish because it would be so perf! (I think the closest you'll get in this finish is "Backtalk")

The Cherry On Top // Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette Review

Wow I'm actually sitting down to review something that isn't a Birchbox 😂 I've been meaning to write this post since October when I got this palette, but as usual school and other life stuff have meant it's taken until now to do! RRP £42 This palette originally launched in September as a new instalment of Urban Decay's Naked series. I was really excited by it, as it's very different to all of the other Naked palettes out there and I'm a sucker for anything remotely pink-toned. It retails for £42, making it one of the more expensive palettes in the Naked series, and inside are 12 beautiful berry-toned shades: Hot Spot - a matte ivory shade. I always use these for setting my eyeshadow primer and as a browbone highlight shade. Caution - a neutral matte beige. Bang Bang - a pink shimmer. Feelz - a dusty rose matte shade. Juicy - a peachy pink matte. This is a great transition shade. Turn On - a gorgeous rose-gold metallic shade. Ambitio...

Why I Came Off The Pill // Honesty Time

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to write about coming off The Pill or not. I personally think that a lot of people, especially women, feel that they can't talk about contraception and the effects it has openly. I recently read a blog by Alex Jones (her Instagram account is @alexgracejones if you'd like to have a look) which pretty much convinced me to write this. As Alex says in her blog, contraception is a conversation I've had with friends so many times, and yet outside of those circles, you don't really hear anyone speak about it. Personally, as a woman, I've always felt it's pretty much been up to me to make sure I don't get pregnant, whether that's taking hormonal contraception or using a condom. It seems odd to me then, that there aren't many women out there talking openly about their contraception, so I think it's time we changed this! I originally went on The Pill when I was 17 because my periods were really irregular and very h...
